So far I have not decided on a date to start yet but I have talked to Allen Frank and my mother about when I am planning on starting my hours for this internship. I have just talked to my work and am in the process of being taken off the schedule during the school week so I can do hours during the school week. Hopefully I have no hours during the school week next week so that sometime next week I can start my first day of work. I will most likely be helping Mr. Frank with paperwork and some of the jobs he does personally while at work.

Journal Summary:

I did get to complete all of my thirty hour internship at Alan L. Frank Law Associates, P.C because ofsome
complications with planning and timing of things. I did however get a chance to do a do of the internship where i got to experience everything i possibly would have been during my thirty hours as an intern. Mostly i did what they call paralegal work. Paralegal is basically what you would call an "attorney's assistant." I did however get to observe and learn a little information about the attorney's job as well. There were privacy issues that made it so Alan Frank or any of his other attorneys were not aloud to let me observe any of his their work. When it comes turn the attorney job i learned about the lifestyle of an attorney and a brief definition of what they do. I learned that attorneys live are very busy lifestyles and that they handle many cases at one time so they also have alot going on at once. However, even though i could not do actual work with an attorney i was able to do paralegal work which was deffinately a great experience as well. When arrived at the lawfirm i noticed how big the office was and how there were people all around reviewing paperwork and doing work on the computer in someway. I was glad when we finally got to do some hands on work. One thing i learned very quick that paralegal work is a lot of copying, filing, and scanning documents. When we started the first thing we started off with is something they called bate stamping which was a machine where all evidence was kept track of. With this machine all we had to do was type in a case name and number all the evidence records would be right there. I was not aloud to look at any of the evidence but she showed me how there most important machine worked. Next we got to one of things that paralegals do the most, coping. Right away we walked over to the coppier and she already had some sample documents ready for me to copy. After copying a few documents they way to the settings she wanted me to, so i could see most of the things they use the coppier for, the next step was filing. I filled a few document into cases folders, which i did not know was all going to be on the computer. Everything they have filled is on the computer and they need internet everyday for their job. After that i observed the paralegal answer a few phone calls and relized that they are very similar to secretarys. After that she showed me what the discovery of casses are gave me some education on what a discovery is. A discovery is all the evidence given in a case. The next stop was to the scanner, where she also had sample document ready for me to scan. When we were down there we went to my final job of the day. We had to sort the mail and distribute the mail to the attorneys they were addressed to. Out of all the jobs i did during this experience i relized that the work that i was able to do may not have been seemed fun but it was just fun to me being able to be in a law firm and do that kind of work. From doing this internship i learned a lot about paralegals and their everday work scedule. The main thing i learned from this experience though has deffinately been paralegals and attorneys work scedule is deffinately non-stop work. This all may not seem like a job for them but from my previous knowledge and this new first hand experienceof a attoneys life and what their lifestyles are i am still interested in becoming a attorney. Alan Frank and I have already talked about me doing my thirty hours at his law firm even though the class is over, and he even said that he would put me into his scedule to where i can intern a few hours with him to see exactly what his is like. I think that this could be the job that i want to do in the future and i still want to get the experience to finally choice wether or
not i want to be a attorney.
